The ability to manipulate reality to create an illusion, therefore making things appear more beautiful than they really are, is what intrigues me. In an appearance-driven society we are constantly confronted with images of women who are free from any features of the time of life. We long for this illusion, and that’s what I try to create.
My inspiration: in a world where looks are so important and where everything seems attuned to that, it leads more and more to a “screwed up” kind of censorship where we can see everything except the truth.
Do we really want to know the truth? With my recent work I want to show what’s behind the perfect image which we all like to look at. The reality, but displayed in such
a way that the illusion is maintained for the viewer.
