Video Documentation Economies of the Commons conference available on-line.

The video documentation of the Economies of the Commons conference is now availabe on-line in full length and fully annotated. This documentation is furthermore availabe in the spectacular new image resolution of 640 x 480 pixels, the standard De Balie has recently started to use for new additions to our video archive (debalie terugkijken).

This video documentation is launched in conjunction with the new video player of De Balie, designed by Balie webmaster Reza Tahami, which is based on a combination of DHTML and Java (the video's are encoded as streaming mpeg4 / h264).

De Balie has decided to adopt this new video standard as the vast majority of our website users are now able to receive this quality material at home via regular adsl type connections.

While the player is designed to work together with most commonly used browsers (including the Internet Exploiter), we recommend Firefox for PC users, and Safari for Mac users.

Around the Economies of the Commons conference (held in Hilversum and Amsterdam, April 10 - 12, 2008) an extensive web dossier has been compiled with background reading and context materials about the topics adressed in the conference. All video's are also linked from this website (www.ecommons.eu).

The new video player enables anyone to notify friends and colleagues of a video from the Balie archive or a tagged fragment of the video, an item, speech, column or other contribution to one of our programs.

Recipients of the e-mail will receive a similar link as the one below (the brilliant keynote by Rick Prelinger during the Sustainable Images for the Future public debate on Friday evening, April 11, 2008):

Video's can also be freely embedded in your own website and / or blog page - the player enables you to copy the appropriate code for the video as a whole or a particular fragment.

Full-screen playback and audio download (for mp3 player offline use) will shortly be added to the player functionality.
